Education and Experience
History
I started playing keyboards as a teenager, studied music at Sixth Form, continuing with piano for several years afterwards. It wasn't until quite a few years later that i discovered I had a talent, and a passion, for drums and drumming, and so my journey began.
I had private lessons for several years and then started to attend the renowned Freddie Gee Drum Academy, which is held in the summer each year in Winchester. Meeting lots of like minded fellow drummers is inspirational, and 2025 marks my tenth year of attending. There is always something new to learn, and lots of drummers to meet, experiences to share, and music to be made.
Drumming Journey
I have played with a number of bands, gigging regularly in the Midlands and further afield. My musical taste rapidly expanded, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, learning about new genres and playing a wide variety of music. Playing live with other musicians and watching the audience having a great time is an incredible experience and I have been fortunate to play with many very talented band members. I currently lay down the groove for Red Tails, a five piece pop and rock band based south of Birmingham. Find us on Facebook for more gig information.
Teaching History
I opened my teaching studio in Tamworth in 2006 and quickly gained a reputation for good, rounded tuition. I have guided several students from absolute beginner to successfully gaining Grade 8, and there are many others who have gained a wide range of excellent grades, using both Rockschool and Trinity Syllabuses.
I am DBS checked and Safeguarding Children trained.
What's Happening Now
My Tamworth studio closed in 2023 and I now teach solely from Wall Heath near Kingswinford. I offer both face to face and online lessons to individuals and am building a solid student base in the area. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons if they wish and this is often useful for younger students. My main aim is to spread the joy of drumming as far as I can.
